Valleys, not radius
Fifteen kilometres from Bormio can mean ten minutes or a pass closed by snow. Search is organised by valley and real travel time, never by a circle on a map.
Checks you can read
No adjectives. Each profile states what was verified and when: ID document, written and signed references, certificates confirmed with the issuing body.
Two countries, two currencies
Rates in euros and Swiss francs, and both Italian and Grisons public holidays — they rarely coincide.
How it works
Browsing profiles is free and always will be. Replying to a message you receive is free. You only pay to write first — with a subscription if you live here, or with a Tourist Pass if you are here for a week or two. The four steps, in detail.
Families and sitters agree the rate and settle payment directly between themselves. AlpenSitter takes no commission on the sitter's fee and is not a party to the arrangement. We are a listing service, not an employment agency.
Written references, not phone calls
Other platforms say they call references. We do something you can actually check: each reference is a written, signed statement from the family the sitter worked for, with their first name, the town, the period and what the sitter did. You read the whole thing — not a star rating that averages away everything useful.
What we do not do
We do not collect or store criminal record certificates. European and Italian data protection law allows a private operator to process criminal conviction data only where a specific law authorises it, and no such law covers a platform like ours. Instead, every sitter undertakes to show the certificate directly to the family, freshly issued, before the first engagement — which is also more useful to you than a file uploaded a year ago.
