Valleys, not kilometres
Fifteen kilometres from Bormio can be ten minutes on the valley floor, or a pass closed by snow. That's why we search by valley and real travel time, not by a radius on a map. When you write to a babysitter, tell her which village you're in — not how many kilometres away.
The questions to always ask
The first meeting happens at your home, with the children present. Half an hour of questions tells you more than ten messages, and if something doesn't convince you, you don't owe anyone an explanation.
What to ask
- What ages of children has she looked after so far?
- Can I speak to a family she has worked for?
- What does she do if a child gets hurt or feels unwell?
- Has she done a paediatric first aid course?
- Is she available ongoing, or only occasionally?
- Can she show me the checks and references on her profile?
Every sitter shows and explains her checks on her profile, with the date she did them: so you know straight away what was really verified.
What we verify
- ID document, with a live selfie for confirmation
- Phone and email
- References from previous families, collected in writing by us
- Certificates and qualifications, checked with the body that issued them
- A fifteen-minute video that becomes the profile's introduction video
Every item appears on the profile with a date. What isn't on the list wasn't verified: we would rather tell you that than reassure you with an adjective.
